Election Day is Sleepy in Berkley with Uncontested Races

Voters will choose an mayor and three members of the City Council.

Incumbent Phil O’Dwyer is unopposed in his bid for a second term as mayor and three council members, two of them incumbents, are also unopposed in Tuesday’s municipal election.

O’Dwyer was elected mayor in 2011 after having served on the City Council since 2005. Professionally, he is clinical director and president of Brookfield Clinics and also is a professor for the Graduate School of Counseling at Oakland University.

Steve Baker is seeking re-election to a second term. He is employed at DTE Energy, where he plays a key role in corporate and technology governance, policy and procedure oversight, and budget management.

Jack Blanchard was appointed to the City Council in 2011 and is seeking election to a full term.  He is retired from the United States Army Reserve, as well as General Motors Powertrain Engineering. He currently works as a consultant with Captains Three Marine Services on diesel engines and as a GM Fleet Product Specialist.

Newcomer Tina Edgar is running to replace Lisa Platt-Auensen, who decided not to seek a second term. Edgar recently retired after 16 years as an English and humanities teacher at Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores.
