What's Open, Closed for New Year's Weekend

Here's your guide to holiday hours in Berkley and Huntington Woods.

The New Year's Eve weekend is a time to celebrate with family and friends. As such, many offices, restaurants and libraries will be closed or have special hours in the days leading up to and following the holiday Saturday and the first day of 2012 Sunday.

Here's a quick look at what will be open and closed in Berkley and Huntington Woods. Please leave a comment if you have something to add!

  • When: Dinner seatings on Saturday at the Berkley hot spot are 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and 9 p.m. until the party stops! The bar and lounge will be open until 2 a.m.
  • Why go: Even Exchange will be kicking out the jams starting at 9 p.m. and ringing in 2012. A 9 p.m. seating reservation includes dancing to Even Exchange, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. Check out the full menu here.
  • What else: For reservations, sign up here or call 248-399-6750.

  • When: Amici's in Berkley will be open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on New Year's Eve and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. New Year's Day.
  • Why go: A special champagne toast will be served at midnight on New Year's Eve.
  • What else: Amici's does not take reservations on the weekends so get there early to snag a table.


  • When: 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday
  • Cost: $15, or $20 at the door. Register at the Berkley studio or online.
  • Why go: Join Abby Bechek Hoot, certified Jivamukti yoga teacher, and Dave Tomaszewski for a magical night. Hoot will instruct a soft flowing class open to all levels while Tomaszewski plays live music. The Asana practice will be followed by music, chanting and meditation.
  • What else: Visit HouseofYoga.net for more information.

  • When: 6-8 p.m., 9-11 p.m. or 11:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Saturday
  • Cost: $40
  • Why go: Laser, disco and black lights, as well as music, will jazz up bowlers' experiences at the Berkley lanes. One lane for two hours (up to six people), one large pizza (10 slices) and one pitcher of soda come with cost of reservation.
  • What else: Reserve a spot at 248-543-9338.
