Weekend Planner: La Salette Funfest, DIY Street Fair and Bras for a Cause

If none of those events suit your fancy, lace up your sneakers for AIDS Walk Detroit or check out an art exhibit at the Woods Gallery.

Our Lady of La Salette Fall Funfest

When: 5-11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, noon-6 p.m. Sunday

DIY Street Fair 

When: 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday, 11-2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday

Where: East of Woodward, south of Nine Mile Road, Ferndale

Why go: This free fair brings the community together with live music, a kids zone, beer garden, restaurant row and shopping at the marketplace, which will feature more than 100 vendors whose works embody innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.

Bras for a Cause

When: 6-10 p.m. Saturday

Where: , 318 W. Fourth St., Royal Oak

Why go: Enjoy live music by Jill Jack, food, silent and live auctions and more during Bras for a Cause: An Uplifting Experience, which benefits cancer support organization Gilda's Club. Comedian Dave Coulier will host the art bra fashion show.

Cost: $40 in advance; $45 at the door

AIDS Walk Detroit

When: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday

Where: , 316 E. 11 Mile Rd., Royal Oak

Why go: The 20th annual 5K will raise funds for Metro Detroit agencies that provide services for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Cost: Free to participate, but fund raising is encouraged

Emily Vastbinder: Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture

When: Ongoing through Sept. 22

Why go: "I enjoy discovering the synthesis between ideas ... any and all ideas that 'stick' or haunt me, or has repetition in my own life," says artist Emily Vastbinder, who studied at College for Creative Studies and lives in Detroit.
