  • Berkley to Get Its 15 Minutes of Fame: Twelve Mile Road at Robina was set to close from 6 a.m. to noon for the filming of a Quicken Loans commercial and customers were to participate in the making of an ad for Berkley Eyewear later Saturday.
  • Southeast Oakland County Senior Salute Will Be Held Oct. 1: The fifth annual event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, where participants will have the opportunity win Meijer gifts cards, get flu shots, enjoy a free lunch and more.
  • Lunch is Back at Sugar Kisses: The Berkley bakery is serving up fall favorites including soups and gluten-free Shepherd's pie, spinach pie, strata and pizza; apple pie will be added to the menu in October.
  • Check Your Refrigerator Shelves for Recalled Kroger Spinach: The grocery store chain asks customers in 15 states to return the product, because of possible listeria contamination.

  • : Chambers of Commerce from Berkley, Royal Oak, Madison Heights/Hazel Park, Ferndale and Clawson will host the meet-up from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Tavern On the Main in Clawson.
  • UPDATED: Huntington Woods Bank Robbery Suspect Charged: John Jones, 47, of Royal Oak Township is being held in the Oakland County Jail without bond.
  • Huntington Woods Opts Out of Public Safety Consortium Study: The project would have examined the feasibility of merging services between the city's Public Safety Department, the Berkley Public Safety Department and the Pleasant Ridge Police Department.
  • Huntington Woods Honors Tracy Shanley for Life-Saving Actions: The Recreation Center programming coordinator received a civilian citation Tuesday from the Public Safety Department for her quick-thinking and courage during a medical emergency this summer.
  • Michigan Patch is Hiring Advertising Managers: Patch.com in Michigan is seeking four sales professionals for community news websites.
  • L. Brooks Patterson Ticketed for Not Wearing His Seatbelt in August Crash: The Oakland County executive paid the $65 ticket Tuesday.
  • Apple Crop Shortage Hits Home: A spring freeze has resulted in the smallest harvest in Michigan since 1945, raising prices on apples at Metro Detroit orchards and meaning fewer of the state-grown fruits at Berkley grocery stores.
