Viewfinder: SOCRRA Native Landscape Education Site

The peaceful plot of land near Pattengill Elementary School and Beaumont Hospital showcases Michigan wildflowers and trees.

Tucked inconspicuously on a sliver of land between Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and in Berkley is the SOCRRA Native Landscape Education Site.

The plot features wildflowers and trees, many of which are labeled, as well as a compost demonstration garden, winding paths and a pair of inviting benches. Whether you're looking to learn more about native landscaping or simply want to find a quiet place to escape with a good book, this spot is worth visiting.

While the Southeastern Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority's acronym is included in the site's name, due to a change in grant funding, the Southeastern Oakland County Water Authority now manages the garden.
