Sunday: Fourth of July Festivities
Check out fireworks throughout Metro Detroit or hang in Huntington Woods for a pancake breakfast, float-a-boat competition and pre-parade bike decorating.
The annual Fourth of July celebration continues Sunday in Huntington Woods with a pancake breakfast, float-a-boat competition, and bike decorating and safety inspection.
The following are hours and locations for each activity:
- Pancake breakfast: Chow down on all the pancakes and sausage you can eat for $6 ($4 for those younger than 12) from 9-10:30 a.m. at the gym.
- Float-a-Boat Competition: "(Contestants) make something that can float around the length of the pool," Rec Center parade liaison Lisa Anderson said. "It's hilarious." Each boat must be able to hold at least one person. Registration is closed, but spectators are encouraged during the event that will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the .
- Bike decorating and safety inspections: Get your bicycle or other wheeled mode of transportation – including scooters, skateboards and strollers – ready for the parade from 6-7 p.m. at the Recreation Center.
The parade will be held Monday, as will the fireworks, which will go off at approximately 10:05 p.m. over .

If Monday seems too long to wait for fireworks, the following is a list of displays taking place today throughout Metro Detroit. All fireworks begin at dusk, which is generally shortly after 10 p.m. There is no admission fee unless otherwise stated.
Greenfield Village’s 19th Annual Salute to America
When: 6-10 p.m.; gates open at 6 p.m. for the evening’s activities, fireworks at dusk.

Where: Greenfield Village’s Walnut Grove historic district, Dearborn.
Why go: Fireworks accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with live cannon fire.

Birmingham Fireworks Display
When: Gates open at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Lincoln Hills Golf Course, 2666 W. 14 Mile Rd., enter through the gates at the corner of Lincoln and Cranbrook.
Why go: Bring your own lawn chairs and picnic dinners and enjoy the show.
Cost: Free
What else: Rain date is July 5. Parking is available at Seaholm High School. No alcohol is permitted.
