The fifth annual Southeast Oakland County Senior Salute will be held Oct. 1 at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, where participants will have the opportunity win Meijer gifts cards, get flu shots and enjoy a free lunch.

Sen. John Pappageorge, R-Troy, and Reps. Chuck Moss, R–Birmingham, and Marty Knollenberg, R-Troy, and the nonprofit Southeast Oakland Community Fund organized the event that runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"The Southeast Oakland County Senior Salute continues to grow every year because it's a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends and enjoy a good meal. The best part is, the salute is free of charge," said Pappageorge, who represents Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills, Clawson, Madison Heights, Royal Oak and Troy in the 13th District. “This year we are featuring $2,000 in Meijer gift cards that will be raffled away in $250 increments to give more seniors the opportunity to win big."
