Saturday: Fourth of July Festivities

Huntington Woods holds Family Night; fireworks displays abound across Metro Detroit.

Huntington Woods gets groovy starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot during Family Night.

The event will riff on this year's Fourth of July celebration theme Back to the '70s, marking the festivities' 40th anniversary.

Family Night will include old-fashioned picnic fare, including meat, a side dish and a drink for approximately $5 per meal. There also will be free fun for the kids including a bouncer, Jacob's ladder, crafts and more. The Americana-country band band Urban Prairie, whose members hail from Berkley and Detroit, will perform.

Tickets for the Huntington Woods Men's Club Fireworks Raffle, which will help fund the festivities still are available. The tickets cost $10 each and are available at the and . The raffle prize winner will be announced Monday during the Concert in the Park from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m at .

If Monday seems too long to wait for fireworks, the following is a list of displays taking place today throughout Metro Detroit. All fireworks begin at dusk, which is generally shortly after 10 p.m. There is no admission fee unless otherwise stated.

Fireworks displays

Fireworks Spectacular, Groveland Oaks County Park
Where: Groveland Oaks County Park, 14555 Dixie Highway, Holly
Cost: $10 per vehicle entry fee after 5 p.m.; free with a 2011 Oakland County Parks Annual Vehicle Permit (which is available for purchase at the park)

Fireworks Over Stony Creek
Where: Stony Creek Metropark, 4300 Main Park Rd., Shelby Township
Cost: Enter the park with annual vehicle entry permit ($25) or pay $5 for a single day permit.
Details: Fireworks will be over the lake on Baypoint Beach. The park recommends arriving at least two hours early because of crowds. Visit www.metroparks.com

West Bloomfield Fireworks

Lake Orion fireworks
Where: Display will be shot from barges anchored off Squaw Island in Lake Orion

White Lake Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks
Where: White Lake
More information: Fireworks will be launched from two barges located near the southern end of the lake. Great public spots to watch include Mitchell's Marina, 2543 N. Duck Lake Rd., in Highland or The White Lake Inn, 3955 Ormond Rd., in White Lake.

Greenfield Village’s 19th Annual Salute to America
When: 6-10 p.m. Gates open to the public at 6 p.m. for the evening’s activities, fireworks at dusk accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with live cannon fire. 
Where: Greenfield Village’s Walnut Grove historic district, Dearborn
Cost: Tickets range from free for kids 4 and younger to $50 for a VIP package
