Moms Talk: How Do You Explain Bin Laden's Death to Kids?

Last week in Moms Talk (dads, you're welcome to chime in, too!), we asked for your advice on how to talk with children about the death of a friend or loved one.

It was a tough and personal topic, which was evidenced by the lack of responses.

This week, as news of Osama bin Laden's death dominates newspaper and Internet headlines, along with TV and radio coverage, we want to hear how you're helping your children make sense of the situation. What kinds of questions and concerns are they sharing with you about the news?

We were impressed, for example, by the maturity of Jack Bacow, 13, of Huntington Woods, whom we met Monday at in Berkley.

"(Bin Laden) did do a lot of bad things and killed a lot of people," Jack said. "I wish he would have apologized instead of just said, 'Kill me.' "
