Library Corner: Learn Civil War History, go on a Haunted Tour

Stop by the Huntington Woods Public Library this fall to experience one of these great programs.

The has a slew of great activities coming up this fall that will benefit the Friends of the Library as well as the community. All three programs are free, but registration is requested.

Civil War history

If you are interested in learning more about the Civil War and how it shaped the United States, a program is scheduled for Thursday evening titled Local Civil War historian Dave Finney will speak about the impact and relevance of the event.

Spook-tacular tour

Just in time for Halloween, Keith Tickley will take participants on a virtual journey through some of Metro Detroit’s haunted buildings for the . He will discuss ghosts and other apparitions thought to be haunting some of the area's famous landmarks. The program begins at 7 p.m. Oct. 20.

Tackling digital cameras

If you’re confused about how to work your digital point-and-shoot camera, have no fear and come to the . Photographer Judy Roberts will teach simple directions on how to best use your device, going over important parts of the menus and discussing the meaning of JPEG and RAW files. White balancing, focus, exposure modes and other controls will also be explained. The program is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17.
