Lace Up for Fall Festival Fun Run on Sunday in Berkley

The event – part of the La Salette Days Fall FunFest, which runs Friday through Sunday and will include carnival rides, food and more – is open to the public and features 5-kilometer and 1-mile races.

The fifth annual Fall Festival Fun Run will hit the streets this Sunday in Berkley.

The event is open to the public and will include 5-kilometer and 1-mile races beginning at Our Lady of La Salette, crossing Catalpa at Bacon, and traveling through Berkley.

"I just want to encourage people to come out and enjoy the cool morning and appreciate the beauty of the season," race coordinator Drew Pennington said.

The Fall Festival Fun Run is part of the church's annual La Salette Days Fall FunFest, which kicks off Friday and will include carnival rides, food and more through Sunday.

"It's just to promote family and fitness," Pennington said of the race. "It's just something different so it's not all food. This is stretching your limbs and doing something different for yourself."

Water will be available at the start and finish lines, courtesy of Westborn Market, and racers will receive medals and T-shirts.

Participants are encouraged to register in advance from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday or Saturday at the La Salette Days Fall FunFest tent. Registration also will be available on race day until 8 a.m. Racers are asked to check in by 8:15 a.m.
