Hanukkah 2012 Draws to a Close

Share your family's 'festival of lights' photos and check out a few favorite videos celebrating the holiday that ends Sunday evening.

As the Hanukkah holiday comes to a close Sunday evening, we are sharing some favorite holiday videos and asking that you upload photos from your family's celebration as well!

The eight-day Jewish holiday is one of the most widely-celebrated holidays and a favorite among children. Hanukkah began this year at sunset Dec. 8 and lasts until the evening of Sunday, Dec. 16.

Hanukkah commemorates the victory of the Jews over Syrian-Greek invaders in 164 BCE (Before Common Era). Hanukkah (Hebrew for dedicate) refers to the rededication of second Jewish Temple in Jerusalem and is celebrated by lighting one additional candle in the menorah for eight days.

To mark the holiday, Aish in the Woods in Oak Park, continuing an annual tradition, shared a "must-see" Hanukkah video called Racing Home: A Hanukkah Surprise. Last year, Aish shared The Maccabeats hit Candlight; the group followed up with another Hanukkah tune this year called Shine. All three videos are attached to this story for your viewing pleasure!
