Berkley community garage sale

When: Saturday and Sunday

Where: Throughout Berkley

Why go: Enjoy the lovely weather – mostly sunny with a high around 80 degrees both days, according to the National Weather Service – while you shop for treasures and bargains and visit with your neighbors.

Cost: Depends how much you want to spend!

What else: Registration is open through Thursday, but the deadline to be included on the sale map passed June 10.

Auto auction

When: 9:30 a.m. Saturday

Where: 303 E. Harrison Ave., Royal Oak

Why go: Royal Oak and Berkley will hold a combined auto auction at A&M Towing, where approximately 50 vehicles, model years 1984-2004, will be auctioned.

Cost: The auction is cash only.

Michigan First Art Fest

When: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday

Where: 27400 Southfield Rd., Lathrup Village

Why go: Shop at artists' booths along Southfield Road and the Municipal Park, listen to music, grab a snack at the food court or sip suds from Michigan brewers at the mini-pub.

Cost: Parking is free.

Night at the Races

When: 7-11 p.m. Saturday

Where: 10524 Lincoln Dr., Huntington Woods

Why go: The Huntington Woods Women's League's third annual Night at the Races benefits more than 20 local women's, children's and educational causes, including Berkely High Scholarship, the Judson Center, the Huntington Woods fireworks and Thanksgiving Day baskets for families in need. The fundraiser simulates a night at the track, with betting on recorded horse races and prizes.

Cost: Tickets cost $25 per person in advance or $30 at the door. The price covers, beer, wine and other beverages.
