Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast

Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade

Where: Starts at South Main Street and Harrison and travels north to Second Street, ending at the Veterans Memorial.
Why go: The decades-old, family-friendly parade honors military members with flags, music and marching.

Ferndale Memorial Day Parade
When: 10 a.m. Monday
Where: Starts at Livernois and West Breckenridge, then turns east on Maplehurst, goes south on Woodward, west on Nine Mile Road and south at Livernois, ending at the Memorial Mall in front of Ferndale Fire Station No. 1.
Why go: Honor veterans at the parade that lays claim to being the oldest of its kind in Michigan, marking its 93rd year this Memorial Day.

Clawson Memorial Day Parade
When: 10 a.m. Monday
Where: Starts at the American Legion Hall, 655 S. Main St., and ends at next to .
Why go: Legionnaires, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and bands will participate, and soldiers will end the parade with the raising of a new flag and a gun salute to honor fallen veterans.
