Get Out: Berkley Community Picnic, Greek Dance Party and More

There are lots of options for fun this weekend including the Ferndale Live Green Fair, an antique and garage sale in Royal Oak and Children's Appreciation Day at Huron-Clinton Metroparks.

My Big Greek Dance Party

When: 2 p.m. Friday

Why go: Professional Greek dance instructor Matina Legakis will provide a special demonstration and a free lesson. There also will be authentic Greek snacks and dance costumes on display.

Ferndale Live Green Fair

When: 5-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, noon-5 p.m. Sunday

Where: Nine Mile Road at Woodward Avenue, Ferndale

Why go: There will be a free veggie taste fair with 20 vegetarian and vegan options, a green art section that focuses on healthy green living, information about home needs and energy conservation, live music, a holistic enlightenment section, speakers and fun for the kids.

Berkley Community Picnic

When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday

Where:

Why go: There will be a splash zone with a water hydrant spraying water on the kids; family picnic games such as potato sack races and tug of war; a dunk tank with city officials and volunteers ready to get soaked; free lunch including hot dogs, chips watermelon and drinks; and a horseshoe tournament and clinic with prizes. "It is sure to be a great day in Berkley with lots to do for the whole family!" Berkley Parks & Recreation Director Tom Colwell wrote in an email. "We hope to see you at community park and take advantage of the offerings."

36th Annual Antique & Garage Sale

When: 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday

Where: Sixth and Lafayette parking structure, Royal Oak

Why go: Hunt for treasure among antiques, collectibles, handmade crafts and jewelry.

Cost: $2; free for children younger

Children's Appreciation Day at Metroparks

When: Sunday

Where: All Huron-Clinton Metroparks

Why go: Each park will have free specials for children, so pack a picnic lunch, grab the kids and get ready for some outdoor fun.

Cost: Some activities are free; entrance to the park is $5.
