Flood Watch in Effect for Berkley, Huntington Woods

Rain, coupled with melting snow, is expected to make for a wet weekend.

Southeast Michigan could get up to 1.5 inches of rain by Saturday afternoon that, coupled with melting snow, puts the region at risk for flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain is expected to turn to snow Saturday afternoon, and the area could see up to 2 inches of accumulation, the NWS said. Thunder is possible Friday and Saturday, said the forecasting agency, which predicted a high of 41 degrees Saturday.

Homeowners, be advised to check that your gutter extenders are attached and directing water away from your home to keep your basement dry. To be extra safe, move valuables off your basement floor in case your home experiences water seepage.
