Libraries Offer Camps and More for Midwinter Break

From Princess Tea to Thomas the Tank parties, there are activities throughout the week to keep kids busy.

Mid-Winter Break officially begins Monday for students in Berkley Schools and for many families that means vacations and trips out of town.

For those sticking close to home for midwinter break there's still plenty to do in Huntington Woods and Berkley.

The Huntington Woods Public Library is offering activities throughout the week.

“We always do this during this break and the one in the spring,” Huntington Woods Library Youth Services Assistant Joyce Krom said. “The people who don’t go on vacation tend to be looking for something structured to do with their kids.”

Monday: Hair-Tastic Craft Day
Tuesday: Princess Tea Party
Thursday: Thomas the Tank Engine Party
Saturday: Andy the Reading Dog Story Time

“It’s very popular,” Krom said. “It’s a very good time for the kids, too. They really enjoy all the activities.”

Residents have to log on to the Huntington Woods Library website to register for each event. 

Berkley Parks and Recreation is also conducting Mid-Winter Break Camp. Space is limited and slots are filling up fast, according to Parks and Recreation officials. 

The cost of the camp is $140 per week for residents, $155 per week for non-residents.

The folks at the Berkley Public Library suggest curling up and reading a good book over the break.

And, with the Presidents Day holiday on Monday, the library suggests these presidential-themed books:
