Woodward Dream Cruise Fans Rev Up for Big Event

How long do you think the Woodward Dream Cruise celebration should last? One day? One week? All summer? Leave a comment!

One day is not enough for Woodward Dream Cruise fans.

Vintage automobiles mixed with flashy sports coupes and everyday vehicles Tuesday evening as spectators flanked Woodward Avenue ahead of the classic car parade Saturday, Aug. 17.

The historic roadway was clogged with pre-Dream Cruise action and the Northwood Shopping Center parking lot at Woodward and 13 Mile Road in Royal Oak was packed with classic cars and tire kickers. While the traffic wasn't quite as heavy in Berkley and Huntington Woods, revving engines could be heard into the night.

The Dream Cruise is expected to attract more than 1 million people Saturday to the 16-mile stretch of Woodward from Ferndale to Pontiac.
