Work Under Way at Site of Former Margarita's Mexican Restaurant in Berkley

The owner has removed the building's facade in an effort to determine its condition before moving forward with development plans, City Planner Amy Vansen says.

Work is under way at the long-vacant site of the former Margarita's Mexican Restaurant on Woodward Avenue in Berkley.

"They’ve removed the facade so they could determine the condition of the building underneath before moving forward with any site plan approval for a facade change," City Planner Amy Vansen said.

The front of the building has been stripped down to bare brick and the interior has been gutted as well. The Woodward Avenue property that was purchased in September by Kevin Denha, who owns a number of T-Mobile stores, has been vacant for more than a year.
