Weekend Planner: Stay in Berkley and Enjoy the Shopping

There are some busy shopping days ahead, including Black Friday on the day after Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. In between is Small Business Saturday, when American Express card users who register their card will get a credit of $25 when they make a purchase at participating businesses.

• Why go: Get some holiday gifts from this local, independently owned book store at bargain prices! will offer a number of discounts and deals for Black Friday. The first 20 customers of the day will receive a coupon for 40 percent off any one item purchased that day from the store's inventory. In addition, the owners have marked down hundreds of books with special red tags that indicate 10 percent to 50 percent off that item for Black Friday.
