Vinsetta Garage Restaurant Expected to Open This Week

Take a sneak peak into the highly anticipated new space on Woodward in Berkley.

Finally, the week has arrived when the 90-year-old former auto garage on Woodward Avenue in Berkley is expected to reopen – this time as a restaurant.

The grand opening of Vinsetta Garage has no set date yet, but it’s expected to open sometime this week, according to Nathan Skid of Crain’s Detroit.

Friday, Skid blogged about the opening and his sneak peak at the restaurant located at 27799 Woodward Ave., just north of .

“To be fair, K.C. Crain is one of the owners, and he happens to be the son of the chairman of the company that signs my paychecks,” Skid wrote.

“My guess is he is not the one who is going to make this place what it is. That person would be Curt Catallo, who also owns Clarkston Union and the Union Woodshop, both of which are national darlings and Food Network veterans.”

Skid highlighted some of his must-see features in the restaurant, including some of the original detail from the garage, like the hand-sketched picture of Beavis from MTV's hit show Beavis and Butt-head.

He also talked about another cool addition that fuses the vibe of the old-school garage with the new flavor of the restaurant. That includes the two old-fashioned gas pumps out front that have been converted into electric charging stations where customers will be able to charge their electric vehicle at no cost.

Of course, the blog post talks about the food, including the Macon Bacon Burger with house-cured bacon, Canadian bacon, cheddar cheese and a special sauce, which comes highly recommended by Skid.

The signature mac 'n' cheese found at Clarkston Union and the Union Woodshop will also make its debut in Berkley.

“The 5,000-square-foot, 160-seat restaurant has a modest price point. A burger and fries will cost about $9, and the most expensive entrées will run about $20,” Skid wrote.

Skid also featured a Q&A with Catallo, touching on everything from the Beavis sketch to his expectations to the transformation of Vinsetta for its new unveiling.
