Relief at the Pump: Gas Prices Falling from Summer Peak

The average price for a gallon of gas is slowly starting to fall after hitting a seasonal peak of $3.87 on Sept. 14, according to the Wall Street Journal.

AAA reports the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.79 today; one year ago Thursday, the national average was $3.50 per gallon.

“Retail gasoline prices have slowly been drifting lower since we hit a late summer peak of $3.8708 a gallon on Sept. 14,” Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service, told the Wall Street Journal. He added that gas prices could fall into the $3.70s this week.

In and around Berkley and Huntington Woods, you can find gas at the Speedway at 24771 Coolidge Hwy. in Oak Park for $3.93 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline or at the Sunoco in Berkley at 12 Mile and Coolidge for $3.99 per gallon.
