Poll: What Would You Like to Order at Big Pickles Deli?

The restaurant will use kosher meats and freshly baked bread from Star Bakeries in Oak Park to build its sandwiches. Owner Ahmad Amin added that the deli also will offer hot dogs, subs, wraps, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and sliced meats, with corned beef being the specialty.

The news drew six "Likes" and three comments on the Berkley Patch Facebook page, as well as three comments on the story, many focused on the building's neon green-and-pink color palette, including the following:

• Conny: "Looking forward to having a new business in town to try. ... As sweet as it is that his daughter selected the 'unique palette,' they sadly don't do much for beautifying Coolidge or adding a sense of sophistication to our little city. However, that can be overlooked – it's what's inside that matters more, I suppose."
• Lianne Mathie: "I think the colors are great for getting noticed. I guess it displays a sense of fun, and it is the color of a pickle. lol. I hope the food is good, we need a deli here."
• Karen Hagglund: "I'm so excited to hear there will be vegetarian options! I hope there are several, and they go beyond a simple cheese sandwich. The color scheme reminds me of a little sandwich/ice cream shop in Paw Paw Michigan called the Sugar Bear, which has an extensive vegetarian menu. Hope Amin may consider veggie hot dogs with vegetarian chili, veggie burgers, or even a veggie "chicken" sandwich."
