Naughty or Nice? New Berkley Restaurant Will Let Diners Decide

Coco Fairfield's is expected to begin serving breakfast and lunch in June at the former location of Hogger's BBQ.

Coco Fairfield's in Berkley promises a menu that will be "a little bit healthy, a little bit sinful."

The new diner at the former site of Hogger's BBQ is expected to open in June, co-owner Martin Miller of Livonia said Monday.

Menu planning is under way, but Miller said selections on the healthy side could include vegetarian and gluten-free items, while the sinful side will include decadent selections such as grilled cheese on cinnamon-raisin bread with bacon.

"Something I've always wanted to do is open a small restaurant, so we're trying it out," said Miller, who purchased the building in January and will operate Coco Fairfield's with his wife Nicole.

"We have totally remodeled the inside," Martin Miller said. "It is really cool. It's kind of '70s dinerish."

Renovations continue at the site – where fliers on the windows advertise "Fresh Breakfast & Lunch ~ a little bit healthy, a little bit sinful ~" – but Miller said the booths and tables already have been reupholstered and a new counter installed.

"I think it's gonna be a really cool place," he said.
