Fuel Report: Gas Prices Expected to Increase in 2012

The average cost for a gallon of regular gas in Metro Detroit was $3.50 on Monday morning, according to the AAA.

There are plenty of things to look forward to in 2012, but one them doesn't appear to be lower gas prices.

According to the AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Metro Detroit was $3.50 on Monday morning, up from $3.39 a week ago and $3.14 one year ago.

Unfortunately, according to a blog post on ABCNews.com, consumers can expect more of the same throughout 2012. GasBuddy.com’s senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan predicts we could see even higher prices this year than we did in 2011, which was the most expensive year for gas on record.
