Frugal Family: Yellow Door Art Market Daily Giveaways and More

Gov. Rick Snyder designated July 27 through Tuesday as Buy Michigan Week and is celebrating with daily Michigan-made art giveaways.
"We do realize that there are some products and services that do not come from Michigan," according to the Buy Michigan Now website. "(Pineapples and mountain-climbing expeditions leap to mind.) That said, an enormous amount of products are grown, manufactured, or distributed by Michigan-based businesses."
To foster interest in local artists, Yellow Door's Facebook page will be featuring a photo of a Michigan-made art item that will be used in a daily giveaway. Some of the items up for grabs include Michigan pottery by Gail Hiller, Detroit photography by Sooney Kadouh, letter photography by Brian Hill, Michigan painting by Kandy Myny and soy candles and soaps by Siouxsan Miller and Anne Simonetti.
