U of M Associate Director of Bands prepares BHS bands for MSBOA Festival

The BHS Symphony and Concert Bands were honored to have Dr. Rodney Dorsey of the University of Michigan evaluate their pre-festival performance this week.

The Berkley High School Symphony and Concert Bands prepared for their upcoming Michigan School Band & Orchestra (MSBOA) Festival performance in Clarkston with a concert featuring guest clinician Dr. Rodney Dorsey on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

BHS Band Director Alan Posner says the pre-festival concert is a great opportunity for students to prepare for the festival evaluation, which is rated on a scale of 1-5, with a 1 being a superior rating.

“It gives us an opportunity to ‘practice performance’ and receive valuable feedback,” says Posner, who studied with Dr. Dorsey at the University of Michigan. “The students really enjoyed working with Dr. Dorsey this year.”
