Hiller's scrip card helps fund Berkley Instrumental Boosters

With a Hiller's scrip card that can be reloaded again and again, shoppers can be donating 3 percent of their purchase to Berkley Instrumental Boosters at no cost to them.

The Berkley Instrumental Boosters (BIB) is hoping that many community members will want to become involved in the school scrip partnership with Hiller’s Market. Many BIB supporters are already using the scrip card every time they shop, and it’s paying off.

“This benefits the Berkley School District’s instrumental music programs,” says Laura Archambault, treasurer of the BIB. “The Boosters only joined the program three months ago, and shoppers have already helped raise more than $100.”

The scrip program works like this. Patrons receive a gift card from the BIB that initially has no value. They take that card to any Hiller’s store and activate it at the service desk. After that, patrons add money on to the card whenever they want via cash, credit card or check. Only the initial activation is at the service desk. Additional funds can always be added right at the checkout as long as it’s before the cashier begins to ring your order.

Each time a card is “reloaded,” the BIB receives 3%. A family who spends $300 a month at Hiller’s could raise $108 a year for the instrumental music program at absolutely no cost to them.

It takes no extra time, and this “passive fundraising” is a great opportunity for anyone in the community who shops at any Hiller’s location to earn money for the instrumental music program. You don’t have to have a student. You just have to be a shopper.

Hiller’s is a strong supporter of Berkley instrumental music through Tag Days and this past fall they donated apples for the Marching Band during football games.

To receive a scrip card that will help the BIB raise funds for band and orchestra equipment, please email your name/address to BIBblogger@gmail.com. A card will be dropped off to you within the Berkley/HW area or mailed to patrons further away. You can start using it whenever you shop and feel good about making a continuous donation to BIB at no cost to you!

Cards will also be available at the BIB meeting this Monday, Feb 4 in the BHS band room at 7 p.m.
