Anderson Middle School Bands perform at Oxford Park Towers

Community outreach is an important part of music education in Berkley. Band students at Anderson Middle School performed at Oxford Park Towers in Berkley.

Students from Anderson Middle School 7th and 8th grade bands performed for residents of Oxford Park Towers in Berkley on Wednesday, March 20th. Band Director Jeff Blazis-Voight and close to 100 students took a brisk walk to the senior community center.

Performing popular favorite such as “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond and excerpts from “The Sound of Music,” the bands played for a packed room.

“You guys were fantastic, just fantastic,” said one resident, while her tablemates nodded in agreement. The next performance of the 7th and 8th grade bands will be at the “All-City Band,” concert on Wednesday, April 10th at the Berkley High School auditorium. This concert will include the combined 7th and 8th grade bands of Anderson and Norup International, and the BHS Jazz Band.
