Berkley High School symphony and concert bands score big at Festival

Both the Berkley High School Concert Band and Symphony Band, under the direction of Alan Posner and assistant director Eric Ambrose, earned a Division 1 rating at the MSBOA Festival on Friday, March 13 at Clarkston High School. The Symphony Band earning all “As” from the panel of judges. The MSBOA Festival is an opportunity for ensembles to perform a program of three pieces for adjudication, one of which must be from MSBOA's required list. Each group is evaluated by three performance judges and one sight-reading judge.

“I was incredibly proud of the way that the bands performed and represented Berkley School District at Festival. The symphony band was able to perform at an incredibly high level and received all A's from every judge,” said Posner. “This is concert band's first "first division rating" since I have been at Berkley.”

In addition to thanking the students and assistant director Eric Ambrose, Posner also thanked parents, community members, and the BSD administration for supporting the band program.
