Weekend Countdown: 'Project X: The Musical'

The teen production that opens Thursday at the Huntington Woods Public Library explores the trials of middle school.

There's plenty going on this weekend in Berkley and Huntington Woods, including a theater debut: A couple of who know how to put on a production are inviting the public to check out their newest creation.

Our pick for today:

  • Where:
  • When: 6:30 p.m. Thursday (doors open at 6 p.m.) and 2:30 p.m. Saturday (doors open at 2 p.m.).
  • Cost: Free
  • Why go: Ryan Hurley and his best friend, Eric Gelb, are co-creators of the musical about four teenagers entering middle school. The students say the show tackles difficult subjects such as popularity, peer pressure, betrayal and staying true to yourself.
  • What else: Call the library at 248-543-9720 to reserve a spot.
