Video: Berkley High School A Cappella Choir Members Perform

The group, which recently received an "excellent" ranking at the State Choral Festival, will be part of the spring concert May 25 at the BHS auditorium.

Members of the A Cappella Choir lightened the mood last week during a Board of Education meeting at the with a special performance of My Spirit Sang All Day.

Proud choral director Kevin Savel, in introducing the students May 9, told the board that the A Cappella Choir, along with the all-female Bell Tones Choir, received "excellent" ratings May 4 at the State Choral Festival. That ranking puts the choirs among the top 10 percent in Michigan, he said.

Savel also reminded the community that the school's spring concert will be held at 7 p.m. May 25 in the auditorium. The concert will feature pop music from "the '40s, '50s, '60s, all the way up to last month," he said.

"It's a really great night, free of charge," Savel said. "We'd love to pack that auditorium up."
