Thousands Celebrate Creativity at Berkley Art Bash

"You couldn't ask for a a better day," event director April McCrumb says of the Saturday festival.

Thousands of visitors and more than 100 artists packed downtown Saturday during the 12th annual Berkley Art Bash.

The celebration of creativity also included food trucks, kids' activities, live music, sidewalk sales along 12 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway, and more.

"A lot of artists are really happy with the day's turnout and sales," Berkley Art Bash Director April McCrumb said as she went booth to booth distributing water bottles and chatting with exhibitors. "You couldn't ask for a a better day. Things are really firing on all cylinders."

McCrumb, who owns Yellow Door Art Market and Catching Fireflies in Berkley, said increased social media marketing of the event, coupled with nearly perfect weather, contributed to its success.

Berkley Public Safety Deputy Director Robert North said it would be impossible to give an exact attendance figure, but the crowd numbered well into the thousands and was steady throughout the day.

"It's pretty good," said Miles Weckerle, 7, of Warren as he and his family checked out author S. Ciara Mitaro's booth. "I got a few badges and I got to see an ambulance and a fire truck."
