Wind Chill Advisory in Effect for Oakland County

The wind chill is expected to hit as low as 23 degrees below zero.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for Berkley, Huntington Woods and much of southeast Michigan, the National Weather Service announced Thursday afternoon.

The NWS reports that winds in the 10-15 mph range will lead to wind chill values 17-23 degrees below zero as temperatures drop to as low as -10 heading into Friday morning.

The wind chill advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. this evening to noon Friday in several counties, including:  Macomb, Oakland, Lapeer, Livingston and Genesee.

The NWS warns that prolonged skin exposure to the cold can result in frostbite and hypothermia. It's recommended that exposure to the elements is limited and that hats and gloves be worn.
