The Michigan Recreation & Park Association recently honored the Huntington Woods Teen Council for its volunteerism and contributions to the community.

The youth organization was presented with a prestigious Community Service Award during a March 20 ceremony at the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing. Teen Council coordinator Wendy Wismer and secretary Amanda Schwartz were on hand to accept the award, along with Huntington Woods Parks & Recreation Recreation Supervisor Colette Nutton.

"Every special event that we offer depends on the Teen Council  as volunteers.  We couldn’t do it without them," said Tracy Shanley, recreation programming coordinator at the Recreation Center. "It’s heartwarming to see teens so devoted to their community and how important it is to them to make Huntington Woods the best place to live and grow up."
