Have You Seen Doug the Cat?

The friendly neighborhood feline has been missing from her home on Ludlow in Huntington Woods since Sept. 18. Her family is offering a $25 reward for her safe return.

Doug the cat has a friendly disposition, a gypsy soul and a very worried family.

The Huntington Woods feline, who is white with patches of brown and black tiger stripes, left her home on Ludlow on Sept. 18.

Jane Stewart and her family are offering a $25 reward for Doug's safe return and have posted fliers throughout the neighborhood. She said there have been several sightings that haven't panned out – either she arrived a little too late or it was the wrong cat.

"I have been the crazy lady out there calling the cat at 6 a.m., banging food dishes," she said.

Doug came into the Stewarts' life a little less than a year ago. She had lived with another family on Ludlow before she started hanging around the Stewarts' house.

"It got to the point where I was feeding her and then driving her home," Stewart said.

Eventually, Doug, who had been a pet of the former family's college student, moved in full time with the Stewarts.

"It's been almost a year and then she took off again," Stewart said.

The worried cat lover penned the following tribute to Doug, capturing the playful personality of her family's beloved pet.

"Doug is a very ladylike cat. She is Huntington Woods' answer to Blanche Dubois. 'I always rely on the kindness of strangers.'

Doug loves to move into open garages and houses with or without an invitation. Perhaps you've seen her wearing sensible shoes and carrying a pocketbook. She isn't wearing a collar. She prefers Barbara Bush pearls. She is declawed, but is in denial. She likes to scratch at tree trunks to stimulate nail growth.

Doug is mostly white with patches of brown and black tiger stripes.  Her tail is tiger striped with a white tip just like 'Tim the Cat' who lives at Hendrie and Nadine. There are black spots on the back of her hind legs shaped like a heart, naturally. She is microchipped.

Doug likes to play with string, eat food, and enjoy of spot of tea with clotted cream. A most civilized tradition. She is FABULOUS.

We miss her. Please call if you have any information on Dearest Doug."
