How long you've had it: Since 2003

Why this car? (or what revs you about this car?): Our bus, nicknamed "No Hurry," is an iconic symbol of the '60s counterculture.  I love what it stands for. It stands for freedom. Freedom and a life that marches to the tune of a different drummer. I also like it because, by Dream Cruise standards, it is unusual. You’ll see hundreds of ‘57 Chevys and Corvettes on Woodward, but you’ll be able to count the VW buses on one hand. My wife, Susan, and I get a lot of attention and a lot of people come up to tell us stories about their college days when they had a bus. We ride in the Berkley parade on the Friday before the cruise and we get lots of applause.

What’s special about Woodward and/or the Dream Cruise for you? I can’t afford a collection of old cars, so the Dream Cruise allows me to see all my favorites practically for free. I’m not much for hot rods and race cars, but I love old original cars that are a bit out of the ordinary, like our bus. It’s great to see all these classic old cars still on the road.
