Dream Cruise Guide: Huntington Woods

Get the scoop what's going on in the city during the Woodward Dream Cruise.

The city, fresh off , won't hold any official events. But, there will surely be plenty of house parties throughout Huntington Woods.

Events: Nothing formal, but the neighborhood is one known to love a good celebration.

Parking: The Huntington Woods Public Safety Department will establish a substation at on the evening of Aug. 19. Streets surrounding the park will be posted as “No Parking – Towing Away Zone,” according to Lt. Neil Gensler.

In a letter to residents, he stated: "Although it may become necessary to barricade certain streets throughout the day or night, residents will still have entry to their driveways and officers will try to accommodate all reasonable requests for access."

Parking on York (technically part of Royal Oak) will be permitted only on the east side of the street and available on-street parking is expected to be occupied very early in the day, Gensler said.

Those interested in reserving a parking spot along Woodward Avenue should contact Lou Rubenstein, a code enforcement official with the , by calling 248-541-3030 or emailing LRubenstein@ci.huntington-woods.mi.us. Volunteer fire department members will police the spots to ensure pass-holders' spaces are kept clear while they cruise. Here are the details:

  • $75 for Saturday only.
  • Reserve a spot by noon Aug. 19.
  • Reserved spots for classic cars only.
  • Parking spots are located on the west side of Woodward between Lincoln and 11 Mile roads.

Rubenstein said spots are usually sold out months before the Dream Cruise but that he expects the weak economy has dampened demand.
