Auburn Hills, MI. June 2, 2014---The clock has started ticking on the Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center’s ambitious goal of adopting-out more than 2,000 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens during the months of June, July and August. It’s all part of the shelter’s participation in the ASCPA sponsored 100K Rachel Ray Challenge.

Oakland County Pet Adoption is one of only 50 shelters, out of more than 3,500 across the country, invited to compete for the $100,000 grand prize, which will be awarded to the shelter that adopts-out the most canines and felines over the three month period, compared to the same time frame in 2013.

“We are going to make it as easy as possible for people to come into the shelter and take home one of these adorable animals,” said Bob Gatt, manager of the Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center. “The incentives being offered will put adoption within the reach of just about anyone who is looking for a lovable pet.”

Each day of the week that we are open for business from June 2nd to August 30th the shelter will have special money-saving deals for potential pet owners.

Monday features “Spin-To-Win,” which allows people who visit the shelter to spin a wheel to determine the amount of the discount they’ll receive for adopting a pet. Tuesday’s are 2 for 1day, which means you can get 2 cats/kittens for the price of one. On Wednesday a $30 discount will be offered on any dog or cat that has been at the shelter for more than 30 days. Thursday is the Senior Special where all animals 7 years and older can be adopted at a 70% reduction in cost. Friday is another round of “Spin-To-Win” and on Saturday’s, when the shelter hosts special adoption events, fees will be discounted 50%. On non-event Saturday’s, adoption fees will be reduced by $50 for those who donate a large bag of dog or cat food or cat litter. All customers can spin the wheel to see if they can get an even better deal any day of the week!
