• Public Forum to Address Coolidge Highway Traffic, Safety: Residents are invited to attend a Berkley Planning Commission work session at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall; take our poll to tell us what changes you'd like to see!
• 'Fracking' the Focus of Oakland County Town Hall: Approximately 100 turned out to hear from activists, elected officials, and industry experts on the controversial issue involving natural gas underneath area waterways.
• Blue Mitten Survey: Clinton Speech Rallies Democrats: In a Blue Mitten survey of influential Michigan Democrats, most respondents felt more optimistic about Barack Obama's chances of winning in Michigan in the presidential election.
• 911 Caller Had Hunch About Bank Robbery: The Huntington Woods resident watched the suspect, who was wearing a knit cap and white gloves, enter the building and exit carrying bundled money, with bills blowing away in the breeze, public safety officials says.
• Cross-Country Horseman Talks About Journey: "It took over a month to get out of Texas. But my favorite place was Evergreen in Alabama," says Leslie Fender, who rode to Michigan to visit the doctor who treated him after a stroke 7 years ago.
• Berkley Public Safety Department Invites Elementary Students to Enter Posters in Open House Contest: The winner and a friend will be picked up by a BPS fire truck and driven to lunch; the first-place design also will be used to promote the Sept. 29 event.

• Huntington Woods Bank Robbery Suspect Has Long Criminal History: The 47-year-old Detroit resident is being held on a parole violation from a previous armed robbery conviction and will be arraigned on a two-count felony warrant for bank robbery and fleeing and eluding, a Public Safety official says.
