For the third time this year, a Trader Joe's product has been recalled.

The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service on Monday announced that Aliya’s Foods Limited, one of Trader Joe's producers, will recall boxes of the "Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice” line, the Huffington Post reported.

Trader Joe’s has a store in Royal Oak at 27880 Woodward Ave.

Aliya's will recall 4,865 pounds of frozen butter chicken and rice imported from Canada because the food may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The product is sold in a 12.5-ounce box.

"Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns," according to the USDA. "Less commonly, persons without these risk factors can be affected.

"Listeriosis can cause fever, headache, neck stiffness, and muscle aches, often preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms."

In September, Trader Joe's announced a voluntary recall of peanut butter products because of possible salmonella contamination. The retailer also pulled several chicken salad and onion products from shelves in July due to the risk of Listeria contamination.
