A few weeks ago, Patch posted blogs on the frenzy surrounding New York Times bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey by Amanda Levitt and Ann O'Neill. And the response to the steamy trilogy penned by E L James has been strong enough to have us wondering: What's next?
Hitting the big screen
Now that the movie rights have sold to major Hollywood studios, it was only a matter of time before speculation swirled around who will play the characters embedded in the imaginations of millions of readers around the world.
The Huffington Post compiled its list and photo slideshow of candidates for all the story's major players.
Did they get it right on Anastasia Steele, the headstrong but naive recent college graduate? What about complicated billionaire businessman Christian Grey, with whom she has an erotic sexual relationship that has female readers swooning?
The local perspective
When the book first hit headlines, we asked Berkley and Huntington Woods readers to chime in on whether they were up for the read. A majority of the responses in our poll showed that it's a local hit, too. (Read that story here).

I think Ian Somerhalder should be Christian Grey no questions asked! Not only is he smoldering hot, but his quizzical brow and authoritative stare is EXACTLY how I picture Christian Grey. Ian Somerhalder's girlfriend Nina Dobrev or Michelle Trachtenberg would fit the part of Anastasia Steele very well.

Ian Somerhalder all the way as far as Christian Grey goes. I think Alexis Bledel would play a good Ana Steele, with the big blue eyes and brown hair, though I don't see her agreeing to play such an exposed, sexual role. So Amanda Seyfriend is a good alternate. :)

Ian has the whole your the bad boy i hate vibe, which is perfect for christian. alexis would be a great ana, they shouldn't pick a actress we are use to seeing acting in sex scenes. alexis is innocent but grown up enough to play the role!
