Norup International School Needs Your Vote to Win $50,000 Grant

Voting is open through Dec. 19 in the Clorox Company's fourth annual Power A Bright Future program. The funds would be used to buy carts on wheels with iPads to increase students' access to technology.

Norup International School is in the running to win a $50,000 grant and it needs your help.

The school is a contender in the fourth annual Power A Bright Future program in which the nominee with the most votes by Dec. 19 will receive $50,000 from the Clorox Company.

"If Norup were to win this grant, it would enable us to purchase grade level COWs (carts on wheels) with iPads to facilitate 'on-the-spot' learning," Norup IB coordinator and learning specialist Denise Tomlinson said. "Presently, all classes in our K-8 building need to make an appointment to use the aging PCs we have in our two labs.

"The Clorox grant would provide the funds to increase all students' access to technology thereby improving their opportunities to improve research and communication skills," she said.

Votes can be cast via a variety of methods, including the following.

  • Text the message 1023pbf to the number 95248.
  • Visit powerabrightfuture.clorox.com. You will need to register, then locate Norup by searching Oak Park, MI, vote for Norup and then confirm.

The winner of the national contest will be announced in January 2013.

"Please take a moment to vote for Norup online or via text message," Tomlinson said. "Thank you for supporting our students!"
