Hackers Hit Fifth Third Bank Website
The bank, which has a Berkley branch, tells customers their accounts are secure.
Fifth Third Bank's website was hacked Tuesday.
The hackers did not gain access to customer data, according to a WXYZ report, but instead were able to deny service to customers by flooding the site with traffic.
Fifth Third Bank has a branch on Coolidge Highway in Berkley.
"We're actively monitoring and assessing delays on 53.com," says the bank's most recent update on its Facebook page, posted Tuesday. "This slowdown has not impacted customer accounts. We are working to restore online connectivity as soon as possible and will provide updates when available."
