Preview: City Commission to Honor Tracy Shanley, Consider Public Safety Consortium Study

The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Huntington Woods City Hall.

The Huntington Woods City Commission will convene at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at City Hall.

The agenda includes the following items.

  • The Huntington Woods Public Safety Department will honor Tracy Shanley – the Huntington Woods Recreation Center's recreation programming coordinator – for her role as a first responder during a medical emergency this summer.
  • The City Commission will consider a proposal from Berkley and Pleasant Ridge to study joint Public Safety operations between the cities. Pleasant Ridge has received a grant that will cover 100 percent of the three-month study's cost, if all three cities sign off on it. "I anticipate, if the cities were to move forward with a consortium, it would take at least 2 years to implement," Pleasant Ridge City Manager Sherry Ball told the City Commission during an August meeting. However, Berkley City Manager Jane Bais-DiSessa clarified that if Huntington Woods agrees to the study, that does not necessarily mean the cities would join together.

The meeting Tuesday is open to the public, and there will be opportunities for citizen comments. See the attached PDF for the complete agenda.
