Berkley-Huntington Woods Election Guide 2012

A look at local candidates in races that will impact the cities.

 

Here's a look at races that will be on Berkley and Huntington Woods voters' ballots Tuesday that include residents from the cities or those who aim to represent them on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.

State House – 27th District

Incumbent Ellen Cogen Lipton, D-Huntington Woods, will take on Ezra Drissman, R-Oak Park, and John Wierzbicki, a Libertarian from Huntington Woods, to represent the 27th District in the state House. The district includes Berkley and Huntington Woods.

Oakland County Commission – 18th District

Incumbent Helaine Zack, D-Huntington Woods, is running against Steven Zimberg, R-Huntington Woods, to represent the 18th District on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. The district includes Huntington Woods.

Oakland County Commission – 19th District

Two Royal Oak residents – Democrat Dave Woodward and Republican William Shaw face off to represent the 19th District on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. The district includes Berkley.

      Oakland County Executive

      Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is seeking his sixth term in county office this November. The 73-year-old Republican will face Huntington Woods businessman and Democrat Kevin Howley.

      Oakland County Treasurer

      Democrat Andy Meisner of Huntington Woods and Republican Marty Knollenberg are vying for the county treasurer position.
