The Book Beat Will Host a Party Sunday to Celebrate Its 30th Anniversary

On Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m., the Book Beat will be celebrating its 30th anniversary and is planning a party for its patrons and the community.

The Book Beat is located at 26010 Greenfield, in Oak Park.

A large group of guest authors and artists will be in attendance to sign and meet guests including; Amy AckleyKathryn Madeline Allen, Dan Austin, David BarrGlenn Barr, Tracy Bilen Denise Brennan-Nelson, John “Detroit Blogger” Carlisle, Denise Crittendon Shutta Crum, Kelly DiPucchio, Jean Alicia Elster, Dan Ewald, Howard Fridson, Jim Gallert, Tracy Gallup, Gary & Laura Grimshaw, Barbara Kellom, Kathe Koja, M.L. Liebler, Rick LiederJohn Martin, Margaret Mason, Cyd Moore, Bill Rauhauser, Nancy Shaw , Leni SinclairDavid Small, David TarverPaul Vachon, and Susan Whitall.  

There also will be live music, artists, refreshments, discounts, prizes, a Mexican taco truck and an outdoor tent to help contain the celebration.

The party is free and open to the public – come celebrate with your locally-owned, independent bookstore.  

In 2012, at Book Expo in New York, the Book Beat was recognized by the National Women’s Book Association and awarded the Pannell Prize, for being one of the best general bookstores in the country specializing in children’s books.
